BJJBuddy Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ranknoodle LLC (“Ranknoodle,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, protects, retains, and deletes information when you use the BJJBuddy mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Information We Collect
Account and Profile Information
When you create or use an account, we may collect your name, email address, authentication information, profile information, and profile photo. Account authentication may be provided through Firebase Authentication.
We do not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details.
BJJ Activity, Fitness Information, and User Content
We collect information you choose to enter or upload, including:
- BJJ training logs and workout or session details;
- techniques, submissions, rounds, and statistics;
- goals and notes;
- related fitness or health information; and
- profile photos, other photos, or videos that you choose to upload.
We use this information to provide the journal, tracking, statistics, backup, synchronization, media, and other features you request.
Location Information
BJJBuddy may collect location information when you enter a location or grant the app permission to access your device location. Location is used only to provide location-related app features, such as associating training activity with a gym or place.
You can control device-location permission through your Android settings. BJJBuddy does not use precise location to infer sensitive characteristics.
App Activity, Device, Analytics, and Diagnostic Information
We and our service providers may automatically collect information such as app interactions, feature usage, session events, crash logs, diagnostics, device model, operating-system and app versions, language, IP address, and device or app identifiers.
We use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve the Service.
Purchases and Subscriptions
If you purchase a subscription or other digital product, Google Play processes the payment. We and RevenueCat may receive and process purchase history, product identifiers, transaction identifiers, subscription status, entitlement status, and related technical identifiers so that we can provide and manage paid features.
We do not receive your full credit-card or bank-account number from Google Play.
Advertising Information
BJJBuddy may display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect or receive IP address, general location inferred from IP address, advertising or app-set identifiers, device information, app interactions, ad interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, ad measurement, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.
Depending on your region, consent choices, and device settings, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure your account;
- provide BJJ logging, notes, statistics, media, location, synchronization, and related features;
- restore purchases and administer subscriptions and premium access;
- provide, measure, and improve advertisements where applicable;
- analyze use of the Service and improve performance and usability;
- detect, investigate, and prevent errors, misuse, fraud, and security incidents;
- respond to support, privacy, and account-deletion requests; and
- comply with law and enforce our agreements.
When We Share Information
We share information only as described in this Privacy Policy and as needed to operate the Service. Recipients may include:
- Google Firebase services, including Authentication, database or cloud-storage services, Analytics, and Crashlytics, for account access, data storage and synchronization, analytics, and diagnostics;
- RevenueCat, for subscription, purchase, and entitlement management;
- Google Play, for billing, purchase verification, and subscription management;
- Google AdMob, for serving and measuring ads, analytics, security, and fraud prevention; and
- professional advisers, authorities, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets with appropriate notice and protections.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices or on our behalf as service providers.
We do not sell personal or sensitive information for money. Where applicable law treats certain personalized-advertising disclosures as a “sale” or “sharing,” you may use the consent choices provided in the app and your Android advertising controls.
Third-Party Privacy Information
Permissions and Your Choices
BJJBuddy requests access to sensitive device data only when needed for a feature and after presenting the applicable disclosure or permission request. You may decline or revoke permissions through Android settings, although the related feature may no longer work.
You choose what training notes, fitness information, locations, photos, and videos to enter or upload.
You may also manage Android advertising controls and, where presented, your advertising-consent choices. You can manage or cancel a Google Play subscription through Google Play. Deleting your BJJBuddy account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal and sensitive information.
Information is encrypted in transit using modern transport encryption such as HTTPS/TLS. Access is restricted to authorized systems, providers, and personnel that need the information for the purposes described above.
No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide BJJBuddy, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, protect the Service and its users, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Retention depends on the type of information and why it was collected.
Account and Profile Data
We generally retain your account information and profile data while your BJJBuddy account remains active. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify this information from active systems, except for limited information that must be retained for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Training Logs, Notes, Statistics, Health and Fitness Information
Your BJJ training logs, notes, statistics, goals, and related health or fitness information are generally retained while your account remains active so that BJJBuddy can provide its tracking, history, statistics, backup, and synchronization features.
This content is deleted or de-identified when you delete it using available app controls or when your account-deletion request is processed, subject to limited legal and security exceptions.
Photos and Videos
Photos and videos you upload are generally retained while they remain associated with your active account or content. They are deleted when you remove the applicable content or when your account-deletion request is processed, subject to normal backup cycles and limited legal or security exceptions.
Location Information
Location information associated with a saved training log, gym, or other user-created record is generally retained for as long as that record remains in your account. It is deleted or de-identified when the associated record is deleted or when your account-deletion request is processed, subject to limited legal and security exceptions.
Analytics and Crash Information
Analytics events, crash reports, diagnostic information, and related device or app identifiers may be retained according to our configured Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics settings. We retain this information only as long as reasonably needed to analyze app usage, diagnose problems, maintain security, and improve BJJBuddy, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
Purchase and Subscription Records
Purchase, subscription, and entitlement records may be retained for as long as needed to provide or restore paid access, maintain transaction records, prevent fraud, resolve billing disputes, and meet tax, accounting, or other legal requirements. Google Play and RevenueCat may retain related information according to their own retention practices.
Advertising Information
Advertising and ad-measurement information may be retained by Google AdMob according to Google’s retention settings and policies. You can manage advertising choices through the consent options presented in the app, where applicable, and through your Android advertising settings.
Backups and Legal Exceptions
After information is deleted from active systems, limited residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups are overwritten through the normal backup cycle. We may retain limited information for longer when required by law or reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution, or enforcement of our agreements.
Account and Data Deletion
You may request deletion of your BJJBuddy account and its associated data in either of the following ways:
- Inside the BJJBuddy app: Use the app’s Delete Account option.
- Outside the app: Submit an account-deletion request through the BJJBuddy contact page.
What Happens When You Delete Your Account
Account deletion is permanent and is not the same as account deactivation or freezing. After we verify and process the request, we delete or de-identify the account and data associated with it from active systems, except information that must be retained for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Limited residual copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups are overwritten through the normal backup cycle. We also direct applicable service providers to delete associated data where required and available.
Deleting Specific Content Without Deleting Your Account
If you want to delete only particular content without deleting your account, use the available editing or deletion controls in the app or submit a request through the BJJBuddy contact page.
Important: Deleting your BJJBuddy account does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. You must manage or cancel the subscription separately through Google Play.
Health and Fitness Information
BJJBuddy uses health and fitness information only to provide and improve the training-log, workout, statistics, and related features that the user requests.
We do not sell health information or use it for credit, employment, insurance, or eligibility decisions.
BJJBuddy is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Children’s Privacy
BJJBuddy is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
International Processing
BJJBuddy and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for transfers of personal information across borders.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing.
You may submit a request using the contact method below. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Service, our data practices, or legal requirements. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date.
If a change materially affects your rights or how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when required.
