The technique database

BJJ Technique Database: Most Common Submissions

The submissions BJJBuddy users finish most in training, ranked by how many people logged each one, with a page for each technique.

Data through November 2026
Ranked by unique users

What shows up most.

Armbar is the most widely logged submission: 41.6% of the 5,728 people who logged a submission have finished it at least once. A person counts once per technique, however many sessions they logged it in, so prolific loggers can’t dominate the list.

Number = people who logged it. From BJJBuddy training logs, November 2015 to November 2026. Duplicate uploads are removed, so a session is one person on one training day. Each person counts once per technique. Groups smaller than 10 people are not shown.

How each technique page works

Each page shows how many people finished the move, how many got caught by it, how it splits between gi and no-gi training, how often each belt finishes it, and a short how-to.
